Mair's Exotica

A HEMAist by the name of James Head appears to have an unhealthy fascination with two of Paulus Hector Mair's most obscure weapons: sickle and flail. Working partly off of Brian Hunt's translation of Mair's flail chapter, Mr. Head has produced over a dozen videos of his sickle and flail interpretations. The interpretations appear sound, and the videos are very well done, if a bit slow-paced.

Our thanks to Mr. Head for crediting Brian Hunt in his videos. Brian's translations can be found in Paladin's 2008 release Masters of Medieval and Renaissance Martial Arts: Rediscovering The Western Combat Heritage.

I hope to see more from these guys. It's great to find someone focusing on the more neglected chapters in Mair's system; interest in his peasant weapons is abysmally low, as you can see from the results of a recent poll conducted on this site:
